Had an off site event for work at Google. Our group went off to Half Moon Bay, CA to do team building exercises and training, etc. Sounds like fun huh?
Most of it was like this. Listening to team updates and listening to VPs, directors, important people talking. It's kind of like a slow brainwash.
The co-founder of Youtube spoke to us for like 30 minutes which is really all I remember from the morning session. Really seemed like someone that could be your neighbor.
(picture by Robert S)The team I'm in at Google grew to about double the size in 1 year. I've been in the team for almost 2 years, but still feels like I'm new because most of the faces are unfamiliar
I heard how dangerous the freeway was on the way to Half Moon Bay. I saw a bad car accident but no one seemed to be hurt.
View from Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay, very beautiful. It's really a wedding environment.
I was surprised with the transportation the hotel provided us to go to our rooms. They could've had some golf cart and I would've been happy.
This is the only rant I have about this off site event. They put two of us per room, but how come one bed! I'm glad I got to pick someone I know, but must be awkward for those that were randomly paired... well actually it was awkward either way. The room's nice, but I wouldn't say $400/night nice.
(Picture by Robert S)The highlight was that they brought Matt Harding (the guy that made wherethehellismatt.com).
Key takeaway from this off site was learning how to dance like Matt Harding
